Assistant Superintendent of Schools

As a result of a retirement, Delta School District is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Superintendent of Schools to commence work August 1, 2026.

Expectations and responsibilities of the Assistant Superintendent of Schools:

  •  Supervise an area/zone of schools. 
  • Maintain close contact with administrators, school staff  
  • Provide oversight and support to school principals and administrative staff, ensuring that schools operate effectively, comply with policy and legislation and provide a high-quality learning environment for students and staff. 
  • Model and mentor effective leadership practices across a variety of settings, including support for leadership development.   
  • Assist schools and their communities in resolving issues. 
  • As part of the district leadership team, actively implement the goals and associated actions in the School District’s Vision and Strategic Plan. 
  • Working closely with the Secretary Treasurer’s Office, oversee the allocation of staffing resources to schools. 
  • Work collaboratively across departments to support district priorities and help facilitate the successful implementation of key strategic initiatives.   
  • Represent the Delta School District at a variety of community tables and play a key liaison role with senior leaders of a wide range of community agencies.   
  • Assist in the development and implementation of district-wide procedures. 
  • Engage effectively with Rightsholders, Union Partners, and other important community groups and personnel.   
  • Work with school-level leadership to develop, monitor, and adjust schools’ plans. 
  • Work directly with, and/or supervise, the work of various district departments; and assume key district and community portfolios as assigned by the Superintendent. 

Requirements: 

  • Outstanding educational leadership experiences in public education.
  • An accomplished educator who has demonstrated an ability to build capacity in others and who is focused on collaborative         inquiry, professional growth, and developing leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • A master's degree in an area such as educational leadership, educational administration or curriculum and program                         development. 
  • A deep understanding of the major issues and trends facing public education. 
  • An approachable leader who offers outstanding administrative, communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • B.C teaching certification. 

Salary Range: $202,435 - $224,928
