IT FOREMAN

Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the IT Foreman is responsible for the coordination of the network and security-related maintenance of Information and Communications Technologies in the district.
The Foreman plans, schedules and assigns work to technical personnel and provides supervision, ensuring that standards are met. Considerable independence of judgment is exercised by the Technical Foreman in dealing with daily operations. The Foreman is responsible for developing procedures for the department as well as recommending changes to established policies. A preventative maintenance program is overseen and performed by the Technical Foreman, along with repair, renovation, and new installations.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Coordinates a planned maintenance program of district technical systems, consistent with departmental policy and standards
· Assesses maintenance and repair work required by inspecting school district technical systems - estimating time and material costs and determining methods and equipment to be used
· Plans, schedules, assigns, supervises, and evaluates the work of technical staff, including temporary employees hired for supplemental work
· Provides input regarding technical department budget, e.g., cost of new construction projects, equipment replacement, etc. and reports on regular basis on work status, concerns, and suggestions
· Assists in the coordination and inspection of contracted services to ensure standards are met
· Maintains a suitable inventory of materials, supplies and equipment, ordering items as per departmental guidelines, preparing purchase requisitions as required
· Performs manual technical work and help desk support as required
· Assists with providing training and instruction to technical staff as to work methods, materials and equipment operation, including training and upgrading required to maintain certifications and service depot requirements
· Ensures that safe working procedures and equipment are used
· Attends departmental and supervisory meetings as required
· Liaises with other Foreman, Managers, and Principals to coordinate activities and projects
· Performs other related duties as may reasonably be expected of a person in this position

Required Qualifications:
· A bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent from a recognized technical college or university.
· A Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification is preferred.
Required Experience
· Minimum of eight (8) years related work experience in the IT field
· Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Required Skills and Abilities:
· Thorough knowledge of web application programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, etc.
· Thorough knowledge of PowerShell and other scripting languages
· Knowledge of Microsoft products including Server, SQL, and Active Directory
· Knowledge of the regulations and codes, standard practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the position
· Knowledge of proper safety practices and the demonstrated ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others
· Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts, demonstrates a helpful and pleasant manner in dealing with others
· Proven ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing, ability to explain instruction or information clearly to others
· Ability to work in a cooperative team situation, aiding co-workers as required
· Ability to plan, coordinate and estimate work in an orderly manner and see the assignments through to completion
· Willingness to complete additional training as required
· Valid Class 5 B.C. driver 's license
· Working knowledge of healthy and safe work practices in accordance with WorkSafe BC Regulations for Workers
· Proven ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts; demonstrates a helpful and pleasant manner in dealing with others
· Proven ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing, and ability to explain instruction or information clearly to others
· Proven ability to read technical drawings, schematic diagrams, and blueprints as related to this position
· Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and estimate work
· Proven ability to install and maintain Macintosh and Windows based computer hardware and software
· Proven ability to install and maintain intranet, internet, PLN network and server/client operating systems
