FULL-TIME JOURNEYPERSON HVAC Technician
The Journeyperson HVAC Technician performs maintenance, repair, alteration, and installation tasks, including renovations and modifications, on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and control systems. Performs minor elements of other trades. Required to work with a high degree of independence on assigned projects. Works cooperatively with other employees, students, and the public. Plans and coordinates projects and makes decisions independently.
DUTIES:
- Inspects, installs, repairs, and maintains HVAC and refrigeration systems utilizing a variety of hand powered tools and materials. Administrates Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
- Regularly inspects equipment and filters for the purpose of preventative maintenance.
- Assists in the planning, assessment, design and estimating of projects. Reads and interprets drawings and specifications, determines material requirements, lays out projects, fabricates sheet metal and reports on work in progress as required.
- Performs work in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations, and codes.
- Reports on parts and supplies inventory levels. Orders supplies and equipment.
- Loads and unloads district vehicles. Transports material and equipment. Cleans, checks, and confirms operational safety of vehicles.
- Assists in maintaining the chemical treatment for boilers. Maintains Boiler rooms for tidiness and cleanliness.
- May, on occasion, be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Grade 12 education or the academic equivalent.
- Valid B.C. Provincial/Interprovincial HVAC Tradesperson gasfitter certification Class B (preference may be given to a Class A).
- Minimum two years related experience at the journeyperson level.
- Physically capable of performing the job duties.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
- Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License and clear driver's abstract
- Knowledge in the use and care of tools and equipment common to this trade.
- Working knowledge of other trades systems; capable of assisting in with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- WHMIS certificate.
