The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. Established in 1982, Our Lady of Assumption School (OLA) is a co-ed elementary school from kindergarten to grade 7 serving families in the Tri-Cities and neighbouring areas. Over the years, we have grown from our humble beginnings in our parish portables, to becoming a highly reputable school with over 240 students. Our school provides a variety of opportunities with various athletic and fine arts programs, as well as the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program. At OLA, staff and students participate in many community outreach initiatives, including fundraisers for local and international non-profit organizations. At OLA, our community strives to walk in the footsteps of Jesus through our shared belief to be caring, sharing, and daring. Our school is located in the growing city of Port Coquitlam.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Lady of the Assumption School, Port Coquitlam, is seeking an enthusiastic, faith-filled teacher for September 2026 to December 2026. The successful candidate should be familiar with inquiry based learning, the BC curriculum’s big ideas, effective assessment practices, and strategies to encourage students to develop their core competencies. The position will involve teaching a primary grade (K-2). Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, a strong foundation in early literacy skills and a deep love and knowledge of the Catholic faith.
Candidates should have an openness to assisting in our school's extra-curricular programs. While all applications will be reviewed, only successful applicants will be contacted.

On an on-going basis, we accept teacher applications for grade levels K to 12 for our Catholic schools throughout the Greater Vancouver Area and Powell River in beautiful British Columbia. All Catholics, non-Catholics, new education grads, and experienced teachers from across Canada are strongly encouraged to apply. Our major hiring season is in April for the following school year, but we recommend that you apply now as we receive an influx of applications.
