Come and enjoy over 200 lakes, rivers and streams and an abundance of outdoor recreation at your doorstep.
The Community:
The village of Burns Lake and the surrounding area stand out for their rich First Nations culture and exceptional mountain biking and hiking trail networks. In winter, the area transforms into
a haven for cross-country skiing, fat-tire biking, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling enthusiasts. Nestled in the heart of the Lakes District, Burns Lake is surrounded by many lakes, offering year- round fishing, hunting, and a variety of water sports during the summer months.
The local First Nations, including Wetʼsuwetʼen First Nation, Lake Babine Nation, Cheslatta Carrier Nation, Ts'il Kaz Koh First Nation, Skin Tyee First Nation, and Nee-Tahi-Buhn Band, contribute to the historical, cultural and economic diversity of the region.
Functioning as a central hub, the town supports local industries such as logging, saw-milling, mining, and tourism. It serves as the primary commercial center for the surrounding areas, including François Lake, Colleymount, Grassy Plains, Topley, and Granisle. Burns Lake offers cafes, pubs, restaurants, retail stores and essential services, including a new modern hospital.
