Applications are being accepted for the position of:
EDUCATIONAL INTERPRETER
Under the direction of the Director of Instruction and School based Principal(s) or designate, the Itinerant Educational Interpreter provides professional American Sign Language (ASL)—English interpretation services for Deaf and hard of hearing students in educational settings.
The Educational Interpreter supports equitable access to instructional content, school activities, peer interactions, and communication opportunities by interpreting spoken English into ASL and ASL into spoken English in a manner that accurately conveys the meaning, intent, tone, and register of the message.
The applicant must have:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
Preference will be given to qualified applicants with Signed Exact English
- Completion/graduation of a recognized ASL Interpreter Diploma Program
- Current membership in WAVLI (Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters) in good standing
- Demonstrated fluency in ASL and English
- Minimum one (1) year of ASL-English interpreting experience preferred
- Experience working in K–12 educational settings is considered an asset
