ASSOCIATE SUPERINTENDENT

THE OPPORTUNITY:
You bring extensive knowledge and experience in leading and supporting elementary schools, curriculum and assessment, implementation of innovative practices and programs, inclusion, equity, and reconciliation.
Outstanding interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills are key to success as you will build, maintain, and establish relationships with inherent rights holders, staff, students, families, stakeholders and community partners in the provision of quality public education. You are a relational leader and collaborative decision maker who engages and motivates others in building effective and responsive teams.
Your background is exemplary and includes extensive experience and graduate work in educational leadership, curriculum design, and teaching practice. Your experience at a senior administrative level is complemented by a Masters Degree in Education and eligibility for certification from the Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB) of British Columbia. Finally, you can clearly articulate a comprehensive understanding of inclusion, equity, and reconciliation as it relates to the work of a large urban public education system.
You will be joining a senior team that is clearly focused on excellence and student success. As an Associate Superintendent, you will collaborate with a team of Directors of Instruction and other senior team members in supporting elementary schools, and a variety of teams in the implementation of the VSB Education Plan . You will also be responsible for a variety of portfolios that may include some of the following: Adult Education, Alternate and Alternative Education, Curriculum and Assessment, Equity, Indigenous Education, International Education, Mental Health and Well-being, and Online Learning.
As an Associate Superintendent you will collaborate closely with senior team members in creating opportunities for learners to reach beyond previous boundaries in their knowledge and experience. As required, you will support the Board of Trustees and Senior Team at a variety of Board standing committees, advisory committees, working groups and board meetings. You will also liaise with the Ministry of Education and Child Care, other ministries, inherent rights holders, stakeholders and organizations that have a shared interest in supporting the success of students in the District.

COMPENSATION:
The compensation package will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the qualified candidate. The salary range for the position is $218,021 to $242,246 and includes a competitive benefits package. Further details can be provided through the recruitment and selection process.
