Settlement Worker in Schools
Temporary Full-time - 35 hours/week
Effective ASAP to March 31, 2027
Burnaby, one of British Columbia's most ethnically diverse urban school districts, is seeking applications for a qualified Settlement Worker interested in a temporary full-time position until March 31, 2027. Fluency in Spanish required.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent in related field, plus a minimum of one year related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience with students and families in a K-12 educational setting in B.C., and cross-cultural competency and understanding of child development and youth issues.
- Fluency in English and assigned language(s).
- Thorough knowledge and experience working in a multicultural setting.
- Sound knowledge of negotiation, advocacy skills, conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Thorough knowledge of immigration policies and settlement issues.
- Sound knowledge of community and agency resources.
- Valid BC Driver's License (class 5).
