Alternate Education (Skyline & Storefront)

Cariboo-Chilcotin School District is one of the largest employers in the Cariboo-Chilcotin Region with over 850 employees, serving approximately 4500 students from kindergarten to Grade 12 in 22 schools.

The successful applicant will work primarily out of 100 Mile House but will work with the principal to support both Skyline and Storefront. Regular travel between the two communities is an expectation with this role. Skyline, situated in Williams Lake works with and supports approximately 30 youth, and Storefront, situated in 100 Mile House works and supports approximately 15 youth in grades 8-12.

100 Mile House is ideally situated 1 hour south of Williams Lake and within easy driving distance of Kamloops, Kelowna, Vancouver and Whistler. It is also very close to the Sun Peaks Resort along Hwy 24 (the Fishing Highway). Situated on the traditional and unceded territory of the Tsqéscen First Nation, 100 Mile is surrounded by natural beauty with stunning lakes with ample opportunities for outdoor activities and affordable living.

Qualifications:

  • Possess or be enrolled in a master's degree in administration, Educational Leadership, Curriculum, Special Education or other relevant area.
  • Hold a valid B.C. Professional Teaching Certificate.
  • Recent, successful administrator or teaching experience.
  • Qualifications and/or experience in counselling or learning support services is an asset.

  • Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation,
  • Strong leadership skills and experience with secondary school programs and curriculum,
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal, communication and team building skills,
  • A strong commitment to students and their diverse learning needs,
  • Successful experience working with students with extensive social-emotional and behavioural support needs,
  • Solid understanding of and leadership with current trends in curriculum implementation, instruction, assessment practices and reporting, and improving student learning
  • Diverse teaching experience, including multi-grade teaching experience, development of Individual Educational Plans and a high professional standard of teaching competence,
  • Clear evidence of on-going professional growth and involvement in professional activities,
  • Support and maintain a safe and caring school, and good community relations,
  • Ability to foster intellectual, emotional and social growth in students.
The salary range for principals and vice-principals is determined by the BC Public School Employers Association. The salary range for this position is $142,993 to $150,652 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package including pension.
