Reports to the Paint Leadhand/Paint Foreman and prepares, paints, or applies other material to a variety of surfaces. 

POSTING DETAILS

• Position - Trades Certified Painter
• Start Date  - May 25, 2026, to November 20, 2026.
• Employment -  Full-time, temporary contract. 
  
  

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares surfaces and applies painting material, specially coatings or other wall coverings (paper or vinyl).
• Repairs surfaces (paint or wall coverings)
• Colour missing or tinting to match existing
• Graphics layout and sign painting
• Maintains all paint, tools, and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, sandblasters, pressure washers, etc. 
• Lines gym floors.
• Erects Scaffolding.
• Operates tools and equipment of the trades, including conventional and airless spray equipment.
• Responds to emergency situations as requested.
• Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
• Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this class specification. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of Grade 12.
• Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate (Painting).

• B.C. Driver's License.

• Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the preparation and application of paint and wall coverings.
• Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.

• Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.

• Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures. Working knowledge of computers.

• Physical ability to perform the required duties.
