Reports to the Paint Leadhand/Paint Foreman and prepares, paints, or applies other material to a variety of surfaces.
POSTING DETAILS
- Position - Trades Certified Painter
- Start Date - May 25, 2026, to November 20, 2026.
- Employment - Full-time, temporary contract.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares surfaces and applies painting material, specially coatings or other wall coverings (paper or vinyl).
- Repairs surfaces (paint or wall coverings)
- Colour missing or tinting to match existing
- Graphics layout and sign painting
- Maintains all paint, tools, and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, sandblasters, pressure washers, etc.
- Lines gym floors.
- Erects Scaffolding.
- Operates tools and equipment of the trades, including conventional and airless spray equipment.
- Responds to emergency situations as requested.
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this class specification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate (Painting).
- Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the preparation and application of paint and wall coverings.
- Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
- Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures. Working knowledge of computers.
- Physical ability to perform the required duties.
