Crescent Heights Academy is an independent day school located in Surrey, BC. With 672 students from K-12 in 2025, our population will grow to 720 students in the following few years. Our aim is to provide students with an inclusive community, a challenging academic education with a focus on our students’ character, emphasizing critical and compassionate thinking and a life-long love of learning. Our school has a vibrant, close-knit family atmosphere where students are known and cared for; we seek candidates that value the professional and appropriate connections with students and their families and understand that every child matters. Plans have begun to build a 1 1 0,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility on the current Senior Campus site with an eye to provide our students with an environment that supports our mission of building future ready students. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Plan and deliver business studies programming and facilitate learning experiences and engagements that inspire, engage, motive, and challenge learners
Develop a caring classroom environment with positive relationships at the core
Monitor, guide, give feedback and assess student learning using a range of tools and strategies
Communicate effectively and regularly with colleagues, students, and their families
Attend and participate in school functions, events and professional development
Supervise students at recess and/or lunch breaks
Lead after school co-curricular activities/coach athletics teams
Attend and help supervise overnight outdoor education excursions
Additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School and as outlined in our Staff Handbook
Be a contributor within the Crescent Heights Academy community
Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Education
An Undergraduate degree in Commerce/Accounting and/or successful teaching experience in Business Education at the Senior School level is required
Hold a valid BC teaching certificate
IB Training is considered an asset
Experience teaching in a senior school setting
Passion and commitment to inquiry-based and concept driven instruction
Canadian resident and be legally entitled to work in Canada
First Aid Certificate
Strong classroom management skills
Collaborative team member
Effective communication skills
A self-starter, someone who sees a need, and strives for solutions
