M.V. Beattie Elementary

This is a temporary assignment effective immediately to June 30, 202 6 or to return of teacher to full contractual FTE.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Art or Education (Elementary);
• Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:

• training in elementary education;
• successful experience teaching at the intermediate level;
• experience teaching a classroom of diverse learners;
• ability to adapt academic programs for students with different learning needs;
• knowledge of current instructional practices and renewed curriculum;
• excellent classroom management experience and skills;
• willingness to work in a collaborative environment and work closely with parents and Learning Resource Teacher;
• knowledge of the First Peoples Principles of Learning;
• commitment to supporting our Aboriginal community of learners through inclusive classroom and school wide strategies for all;
• knowledge of and experience with Reading Strategies, the Daily Five and Reading Power;
• successful experience and willingness in using BC Reading Performance Standards;
• commitment to supporting current intermediate assessment practices;
• knowledge of and experience with the BC Core Competencies;
• strong interpersonal skills to “connect” with students, parents and staff;
• commitment to using Smartboard and other technology in the classroom to enhance student learning;
• willingness to contribute to school wide programs;
• commitment to supporting school wide numeracy goal and strategies.
