POSITION DESCRIPTION:
TEMPORARY JUNIOR SCHOOL GRADE 6 & 7 VISUAL ART AND DESIGN TEACHER ; GRADE 6 HOMEROOM PARTNER TEACHER ( 0.8 FTE, Monday-Thursday ) (MATERNITY LEAVE COVERAGE)
We invite applications for a Grade 6 & 7 MYP Visual Art & Design Teacher, covering maternity leave from May 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching two sections each of Visual Art 6 and 7 and one section each of Design 6 and 7. Candidates available to start May 1, 2025, or September 1, 2025, will be considered.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
MYP specialist-subject teachers proactively consider and nurture students' cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development. They collaboratively design, implement, and assess grade-level teaching and learning in their subject group(s) in Grades 6 and 7, guided by the BC Curriculum and the philosophy and framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP). They value opportunities to interact and build caring relationships with students in and beyond the classroom. They work closely and collaboratively with administrators, the MYP coordinator, other school leaders, teachers, non-teaching staff, and families to co-create a positive and inclusive school environment and climate. They embrace and uphold the Southridge vision, mission, and values.
