Position: Psychologist

FTE: 1.0

Status: Continuing

Start Date: September 2, 2025


The District School Psychologist will:

* have their professional fees paid by the district (prorated based on FTE)

* be reimbursed for approved mileage

* receive an annual psychologist allowance as per the collective agreement (prorated based on FTE)


This position is primarily responsible for conducting psychoeducational assessments and providing consultative services. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of current, effective assessment methods, as well as best practice in academic intervention. The position is required to collaboratively consult with teachers, parents, and community agencies regarding the nature of a student’s strengths and needs, their educational implications and ways to enhance learning and interpersonal skills. This role also requires the ability to assist with pre-referral interventions for the student intervention plans, suggesting support activities to ensure the inclusion of diverse learners, provide assistance in the process of identification of students in special education categories, provide guidance to Learning Support Teachers regarding the use of Level B assessment tools, and provide in-service training as required.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in school psychology or equivalent
  • Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel between schools
  • Have the ability to work independently and efficiently to complete psychoeducational assessments
  • Have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with a variety of people
  • Have knowledge of audit compliance criteria for special education categories

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $59,711-$109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service, FTE and qualifications in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
