Job Description:
Further to expectations outlined in the Professional Standards for BC Educators, teachers at Evergreen:
- collaboratively complete long term planning (Year-at-a-Glance), describing units of study that align with school values, themes, virtues, and core curriculum
- independently complete short term planning (Unit Plans) with specific connections to core competencies.
- develop in-depth daily plans, differentiated for a range of needs and abilities, and with specific adaptations or modifications as required.
- understand the importance of connection and a student-centered approach, and strive to develop meaningful and supportive relationships with students.
- structure the physical environment to promote comfort and functionality, and establish procedures for successful classroom management.
- utilize a variety of assessment practices, and use resulting data to guide instruction.
- embrace outdoor and play-based learning, and participate in regular Professional Development.
- engage in Professional Development opportunities suggested by the Principal/Inclusive Education team.
- are familiar with the Ministry of Education’s Special Education designations, and key strategies for working with a range of student needs and exceptionalities, or are willing to obtain further training.
- attend monthly staff and teachers’ meetings, school development day meetings, and student conferences.
- maintain First Aid certification, or seek certification upon being hired.
- interview prospective students.
- communicate with and provide direction to educational assistants and support staff, in relation to student and classroom needs.
- prepare for, attend, and use resulting goals from Individual Education Plan meetings to guide instruction.
- perform other related duties as requested by administration.
Experience working with Special Education, and first aid prefered.
Must be available for in-person interviews.
