Job Summary & Responsibilities
The District School Psychologist position includes opportunities to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment in the context of the Student Support Services Department and with school personnel. The successful candidate will also:
- Provide ongoing collaborative consultation and planning for students and classrooms through school-based team meetings and care team meetings.
- Provide individualized psychoeducational assessments (based on student need) for students referred through the school-based team.
- Maintain and track district wide assessments for the purpose of program planning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and students in classroom settings to guide programming.
- Provide professional learning opportunities for educators and support staff.
- Assist with the Ministry of Education processes for designation and eligibility for adult support services (CLBC)
- Assist with the administration of Screen Smart initiatives.
- Maintain contact with other agencies for the purpose of supporting school district goals and objectives.
- Assist staff, students, and parents with the delivery of educational psychology services.
- Education & Experience
- Master’s Degree in School Psychology, Educational Psychology or equivalent
- Possess or eligible for membership in the BC Association of School Psychologists and/or the College of Psychologists BC
- Teaching certification with B.C. Teacher Regulation Branch.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of B.C. Ministry of Education designation categories and guidelines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of elementary, middle, and secondary contexts.
- Demonstrated effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple assessments in consultation with school-based teams across the district.
- Demonstrated ability to work with school-based and integrated teams in a consulting role.
- Skilled in written and oral interpersonal communications.
- Skilled in forming collegial and collaborative relationships with all community care teams and support professionals.
- Knowledge of Competency Based IEPs
