We invite applications for the position of:

Zone Coordinator - Electrician

Working closely with and under the supervision of the Director of Operations or designate, the successful applicant will be a team leader required to bring various projects together in a timely manner within budget and supervise multi trades staff installing, wiring, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems. Working on the tools as a trades person is required. This position is required to start work at various locations.

Successful applicants will have:

  • Completed Grade 12;
  • Interprovincial or B.C. Trades Qualification in Electrical with four (4) years' trades experience;
  • Valid B.C. Safety Authority Field Safety Representative CLASS B, MAX 750 VOLTS and electrical code updating course;
  • Workplace Leadership Skills Program Certificate – Okanagan College or equivalent;
  • Computer Basics for Business Program Certificate – Okanagan College or equivalent;
  • Successful experience as a foreman/coordinator primarily in a maintenance setting and ability to assign, co-ordinate, and supervise unionized staff;
  • Demonstrated training and work experience in current B.C. construction/maintenance safety requirements and WorkSafeBC regulation relating to the trade and industry;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current building code and ability to interpret specifications, blueprints, and other construction documentation including preparing as-built drawings;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the inter-relation and coordination of design teams, contractors and multiple trades to bring projects to timely, cost-efficient completion;
  • Ability to complete and maintain a variety of documentation including work requests, safety records, work orders, record keeping, schedules;
  • Experience in construction project estimating and budgeting;
  • Proven experience working with all types of electrical systems and electronic systems with knowledge of current systems such as electrical service, lighting, motor controls, P.A. systems, fire alarm, intrusion alarms, network wiring, medical retrieval, telephones;
  • Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.

Applicants will be expected to:

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers, district staff, and the public;
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Have a working knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and maintenance management system;
  • Be a self-starter and able to lead a team and/or work alone;
  • Provide accurate cost estimates, budgets, and control costs;
  • Plan and schedule work with other coordinators;
  • Determine priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Possess the physical condition and health to carry out the required duties of this position;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development;
  • Complete the required District's Health & Safety training.

This is full time continuing position starting as soon as possible, working 40 hours per week at a wage rate of $39.83 per hour, plus a comprehensive employee benefit package including extended health and dental coverage, short term and long-term disability insurance and participation in a defined benefit pension plan.
