TEACHING PRINCIPALSHIP – BABINE ELEMENTARY SECONDARY SCHOOL

The School District:
Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in beautiful north central BC.
We serve 2,825 students in our standard schools and an additional 900 FTEs at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Our region has affordable housing, welcoming communities, and a lower cost of living compared to many other regions. The Community:
The Village of Granisle has a population of roughly 300 residents. Situated on the unceded traditional territory of the Lake Babine Nation, the surrounding region is notable for its vibrant First Nations culture and outstanding opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Set along the shores of Babine Lake and framed by snow-capped mountain peaks, Granisle provides year-round recreation, including snow sports, snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting, with abundant water-based activities available throughout the summer on the largest natural lake in BC.
The Position:
The successful candidate will be a student-focused, community-minded leader who values connection, visibility, and active involvement in daily school life. This is a teaching principalship in which staff work collaboratively to provide a flexible, student-centered learning environment that reflects both the unique strengths and challenges of a small rural school. The role requires leadership grounded in flexibility, care, and practical problem-solving. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the position involves ongoing collaboration with families, Rightsholders and the wider community.

Qualifications and Abilities:
The salary range for this position is determined by the BC Public Service Employer Association (BCPSEA). Placement on the salary range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
