Salary Range: $63,192 - $112,685
School District 10, in the beautiful West Kootenay region of southeastern BC is situated on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Sinixt Peoples. We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative educator and have a great team of principals/vice principals, teachers, support staff, parents, students, and community for you to work alongside. Required characteristics / strengths include:
- A valid Teaching Certificate from the BC Teachers Regulation Branch
- A bachelor's degree of Education or equivalent and relevant post-secondary education and experience in teaching secondary subjects including but not necessarily limited to Math, Science, and English Language Arts
- An understanding of the revised BC Curriculum and the redesigned high school graduation program requirements in order to guide students in course selection and Graduations Transitions
- Strong computer skills and ability to monitor and teach students in an online format including use of the Brightspace D2L course management system
- A strong understanding of the principles of Distributed & Blended Learning Education and young adults' developmental needs
- The ability to teach and co-teach engaging youth in a variety of structured and unstructured learning environments with a focus on outdoor education and indigenous education
- A strong understanding of assessment practices and the ability to create innovative and cross curricular learning experiences that provide opportunities for deep learning
- Strong motivation, flexibility, and resourcefulness and ability to work well independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and strengths working in a collaborative team environment and ability to communicate with other schools to create seamless transitions and access to learning resources
- Commitment and expertise in building relationships with students, parents and community partners
- Successful experience integrating socio-emotional learning, self-regulated learning in the classroom learning setting and beyond
- Demonstrate an understanding of the unique needs of home-based learners and their families
- Strong, positive confidential advocate for student needs and demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development implantation, and assessment of student learning plans, IEPS in consultation with student, parents, and staff
- Demonstrate an understanding of Indigenous cultures and experience integrating First Peoples Principles of Learning into teaching practice
- Commitment to co-development of the School Growth Plan and organization for learning
- Willingness to participate in school and/or district Professional Learning Communities
- Willingness to participate in the school's extra-curricular programs
