PYP Applied Design Skills and Technology (ADST) Teacher - Junior School - Part Time (Minimum of 0.5 FTE) 2026-2027 School Year
The Applied Design Skills and Technology (ADST) Teacher will work with students to develop inquiry, project-based learning, and design-thinking challenges and opportunities as well as the ethical and safe integration of technology into the instructional program and supporting professional development. This individual will create interdisciplinary learning experiences related to Science, Technology, Humanities, Fine Arts, and Math (STEAM) both in and out of the classroom. This teacher will work with students, colleagues, and community-based partners, to open up the futures-oriented world of STEAM possibilities to students
This is a teaching role within the Primary Years Program and may extend into related Educational Technology roles. It includes a technology support role outside of the classroom where the successful candidate will work with students and teachers to support and integrate technology applications within the school.
This teacher will work closely with colleagues in the Junior school to design and deliver the ADST program and to determine needs and support capacity building in shifting pedagogies and the co-creation and curation of resources (community, digital, print).
The successful candidate will possess: content, digital, and instructional expertise; the capacity to work as a colleague with instructional staff to support student learning and teacher practice; and proven experience with developing instructional materials, conducting trainings/workshops, and organizing in-person and virtual presentations to educate and disseminate information to appropriate recipients.
Requirements:
❏ BC Teaching Certificate: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate
❏ Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education
❏ Interest in being part of a dynamic and visionary IB school community
❏ Excellent knowledge of the BC Curriculum and latest trends in educational research and pedagogy
❏ Experience and a passion for student-centered, project and inquiry-based learning, and maker-space pedagogies
❏ Familiarity with maker education, design thinking, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset
❏ Demonstrated ability to integrate technology purposefully to transform learning
❏ Experience working with STEAM tools, e.g. SketchUP, Scratch, 3D Printers, Robotics etc.
❏ Demonstrated passion for innovation and creativity in education
❏ Eligible to work in Canada
Ideal characteristics:
❏ Computing Science and/or programming experience is an asset
❏ Experience with robotics is an asset
❏ 3-5 years of successful teaching experience
❏ Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
❏ Strong organizational and time-management skills
❏ Knowledge of the current research on technology and design learning
❏ Commitment to continuous professional growth and improvement

❏ Demonstrating an innovative, and creative thought process with the ability to initiate new ideas with energy
❏ Working with with faculty and students to facilitate technology integration
❏ Providing direct support to other teachers as they implement and integrate science, mathematics, the fine arts and technology in the curriculum
❏ Using Understanding by Design as a framework to teach for deeper understanding
❏ Differentiating instruction and assessment practices to meet the needs of individual learners
❏ Other duties as assigned by the Junior School Principal and/or other members of the Academic Leadership team.

Salary Range: Brockton Faculty Salary Grid
2025-26 Example - For TQS Category 5 (Step 0) $63,302 to $104,047 (Step 10 ) per annum
