JOB DESCRIPTION

Cloverdale Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, collaborative, and dedicated Grade 2 teacher to join our vibrant learning community. Grade 2 is a sacramental year, and we are looking for an educator who joyfully embraces the responsibility of nurturing both the academic growth and spiritual formation of young learners.


About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Grade 2 British Columbia curriculum while also leading students through their preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, in close partnership with families, parish staff, and school leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the BC Curriculum
  • Teach Catholic Religious Education (Catechism) and guide students through sacramental preparation
  • Support the faith life of the classroom through prayer, liturgy, and Gospel-centered teaching
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment rooted in Catholic values
  • Collaborate closely with grade-level partners, learning support staff, and administration
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians
  • Use assessment practices to support student learning and growth
  • Participate actively in school liturgies, faith events, and professional development

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Practicing Catholic, actively living and modeling the faith
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of primary pedagogy and child development
  • Willingness and confidence to teach catechism and sacramental preparation
  • A team player who values collaboration and shared responsibility
  • Commitment to staying current with educational best practices and trends
  • Strong classroom management, organization, and communication skills
  • Genuine love for working with children and supporting the whole child—mind, body, and spirit
