Montessori Kindergarten Teacher

Maria Montessori Academy is an independent school in Victoria offering dynamic, hands-on learning to students from Preschool to Grade 12. This is a community-based school boasting low student/teacher ratios and an all-around excellent working environment.

We are seeking a full-time BC teacher to join our Kindergarten team. This specific posting is for a well-established Kindergarten classroom.

Montessori training is essential for this role. Additionally, the classroom teacher should be a forward-thinking educator and is expected to deliver lessons from across the curriculum, following both the provincial and Montessori curricula, while maintaining a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom environment for a group of approximately 11 kindergarten students.

Required qualities in a candidate are:

• Early Childhood Montessori accreditation

• BC Teacher Certification

• Current First Aid & CPR-C

• Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant

Desired qualities in a candidate are:

• Successful experience working with and understanding students of this age group

• Previous experience in a Montessori classroom

• Excellent communication skills with students, their parents, and colleagues

• Being organized, punctual, and reliable

• Ability to foster independence in children

• Invested in professional development and furthering their own learning as a professional

• Interested in working collaboratively with other teachers and classroom assistants 

• Excited about participating in extracurricular activities from across the school and ages (for example, coaching or leading clubs outside of school hours)
