The Quesnel School District is seeking a Primary Teacher for Nazko Valley Elementary School . This position is eligible for pre-employment signing bonus of $10,000 in return for a successful candidate accepting a job offer for this position. Subject to the following conditions:
- Must be a certified enrolling teacher
- Cannot be a current employee of School District #28
POSITION: Elementary General Teacher
ASSIGNMENT: Elementary (K-7) This position provides multi-grade instruction in a remote school setting. Classroom teachers at this school cover each other's preparation time with the week roster. As such, there will be times the primary teacher will cover the intermediate teacher's class and vice versa.
FTE: 1.0
LOCATION: Nazko Valley Elementary School
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing September 1, 2025, and continuing
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Elementary Education with specialization at the primary/intermediate level
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching at the primary/intermediate level
A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.

Other:
- Knowledge of First Nations Culture and the ability to work in liaison with Nazko First Nations families and community.
- The school works within a collaborative learning model which includes teacher collaboration for planning for literacy and numeracy and other subject areas. This includes a flexible learning model for learning blocks.
- The learning approach includes side by side reading, station learning for language development, math stations for independent learning.
- The ability to also work with students using the Circle of Security and augmentative communication approaches is an asset.
The starting annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
