On call Custodian

Nisga'a School District No. 92 accepts applications for casual, on call custodians. Working hours are generally 4-to-8-hour shifts in the evening and/or weekends, while school is not occupied. Working hours are dependent on position, location and staffing requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all trash is taken out daily.
- Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets.
- Wash and sanitize bathrooms.
- Wash and sanitize all surfaces, this includes the staff room areas.
- Report major/minor damages through the workorder system.
- Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows, and setting alarm.
- From time to time adjust hours to meet demands of nighttime meetings.
- Daily use of fogger on all stairwells, light switches, chairs, noneating surfaces.
- Practice confidentiality
- Other related duties as assigned
Successful applicants will have demonstrated:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent.
- Certification of Building Service Worker (Level 1 & 2) is an asset
- Valid WHMIS ticket
- Previous Custodian/labour experience is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks – including prolonged standing, bending, lifting/carrying up to 40 to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively with staff and the public, and manage a frequently changing on-call schedule.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning supplies and machinery
- Current class 5 driver's license or working towards class 5

Pay and Benefits are in accordance with CUPE Local 2298 Nisga'a Collective Agreement.
