Job Summary & ResponsibilitiesOur program at North Poplar Campus of the Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts is based on an integrated arts philosophy. Students will experience a fusion of the core curriculum: Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Math, and the four arts: music, drama, dance, and visual arts.
Arts Integration deepens understanding and enhances achievement. Teachers work collaboratively in pods to provide a seamless program of learning and instruction to a diverse student population. Teachers participate in school wide productions, art show and sale, and POD presentations.
The starting annual salary for this part-time Elementary School Teacher position ranges from $48,500 to $84,973 with placement on the July 1, 2023 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
Education & Experience
- Elementary teacher training with major practicum at the Primary level
- Coursework in Early Childhood Education
- Successful teaching experience at the Primary level
- Eligible for B.C. Certification
- Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of the Primary program
- Ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and recent experience with a balanced literacy program including guided reading and assessment
- Ability to integrate the arts into the curriculum
