Reports to the Electrical Leadhand/Foreman, and performs duties to install, maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems and equipment.


  • Position -  Electrician
  • Start Date  - As soon as possible 
  • Employment -  Permanent, Full-time (40 hrs/wk)
  • Hours - Monday to Friday (7:30am to 4:00pm)


  • Installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems and equipment.
  • Conducts safety inspections.
  • Carries out preventative maintenance work orders (PM’s).
  • Holds a District purchasing card for the purpose of purchasing materials, and is responsible for the record keeping and reconciliation of the monthly statements.
  • Purchases materials within the Purchasing Policy to obtain the best value for the District
  • Operates tools and equipment of the trade.
  • Respond to emergency situations as requested.
  • Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle.
  • Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.


  • Completion of Grade 12.
  • Apprenticeship and/or Trades Qualification Certificate (Electrical).
  • One year's related experience in an industrial/commercial setting including alarms and controls.
  • B.C. Driver's License.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled tasks in the installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic systems and equipment.
  • Thorough and current knowledge of the standards, practices, regulations, methods, tools and equipment of the trade.
  • Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information.
  • Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Physical ability to perform the required duties.
