POSITION DESCRIPTION:

DAY PORTER - FULL TIME

We are currently inviting applications for the full-time (1.0 FTE) position of a Day Porter. This position contributes to the school’s facilities department by providing routine cleaning of all school buildings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for on-going routine cleaning of the interior of all school properties as listed in the Cleaning Schedule under the direction of the facilities staff

  • Inspection and stocking of student and staff washrooms throughout the day

  • Spot cleaning carpets throughout the schools as needed

  • Emergency or extra cleaning as required to support the janitorial team

  • Continual monitoring of buildings and grounds conditions to identify areas that require attention or may affect the safety of the students and staff

  • Bring maintenance items to the attention of the Director of Facilities or Facilities Coordinator for prioritizing

  • Assist with traffic duties as directed by Facilities staff

  • Assist with laundry as directed by Facilities staff on occasion

  • Assist with School function set-ups and fundraising events as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency with use of automated systems including work ticket systems, email and calendars (GSuite)

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment as well as a able to work collaboratively with minimum supervision and function well as part of a team

  • Observant and aware of what is happening in and around the school

  • Personable and professional manner when representing the school to parents, students, staff and outside contractors and suppliers

  • Reliable and dependable

  • Flexibility and willingness to work extra time for major school events

  • Able to lift 20lbs.

Southridge offers a competitive salary. The salary range for this position is between $43,000. and $46,000.
