The Catholic Independent Schools of the Nelson Diocese (CISND), hosts six elementary schools, and one high school. The diocese is located in the beautiful Okanagan and Kootenay regions of British Columbia. The Catholic Independent Schools of the Nelson Diocese (CISND) invites applications for:
Teachers Teaching-On-Call (TOC)
Kelowna & West Kelowna
Individuals with a current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch and a valid BC teaching certificate (or pending) are encouraged to apply for placement on the CISND Teacher-On-Call list. We invite applications from generalists and specialists, in primary, middle and secondary years who are familiar with the renewed BC curriculum in order to support St. Joseph Elementary School , Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School and Immaculata High School in the Kelowna/West Kelowna area. Substitute teachers must be committed to engaging students in activities and striving for meaningful learning experiences.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:
- Commitment to Catholic Education
- Identification with and participation in the life of a Catholic parish
- Successful teaching experience
- Ability to support students with exceptional needs through differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to use discretion when dealing with confidential matters
- Teacher candidates who will be graduating as of December 31, 2023 are also welcome to apply

- BC Teacher’s Certificate (or confirmation of application for certification)

- Post Secondary Transcripts
- Recent Evaluation/Practicum report from employer/practicum supervisor
- CISND Pastoral Reference form (available at www.cisnd.ca)
Catholic applicants must provide:
- Certificate of Catholic baptism or RCIA Certificate
- Certificate of Catholic marriage, if applicable
As a condition of employment, successful candidates must complete Diocesan Safe Environment training and will be required to submit the following:
- Certified statement(s) of previous teaching experience
- Criminal Record Check shared clearance letter
- Photocopy of Canadian Birth Certificate or Canadian Passport (documentation to indicate you are legally entitled to work in Canada)
- Social Insurance Number
- Photocopy of Driver's License
