Job Summary & Responsibilities
Reporting to CORE, itinerant ELL teachers work directly with English language learners at assigned elementary, middle and/or secondary schools. As a contributing member of the District English Language Learning team, the successful applicant is required to generate AIPs using appropriate testing materials such as IPT or BC ELL Standards. They will model culturally responsive teaching and support English language learners with inquiry-based learning.

The starting annual salary for this part-time Itinerant Teacher position ranges from $8,535.77 to $10,621.70, with placement on the July 1, 2023 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Education & Experience

  • Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Certificate from an accredited program
  • Abbotsford Academic English Language Program certification
  • Training and experience administering and interpreting IPT Assessments
  • Experience teaching ELL learners at the elementary, middle or secondary school levels
  • Experience using technology to facilitate language acquisition
  • Experience with the blended model of instruction to support English language acquisition
  • Experience implementing the full cycle of teacher collaboration (leading collaboration meetings, Co-teaching, co-assessing, co-planning)
  • Experience building connections and presenting to stakeholders (school-based teams, District departments, parents, community services, etc.)
  • Valid BC Driver's license and access to personal vehicle
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
