Job Summary & Responsibilities 

Come join our team of dedicated and caring educators at Abbotsford Senior Secondary School as we work together to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

The successful applicant will teach Junior Math, Workplace Math 11, Physical Health Education, Career Life Education 10.

 

The starting annual salary for this full-time School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

 

*This opportunity is a temporary UFN contract, which is subject to change or cancel before June 27, 2025. In the event the teacher returns to work (work-hardening, part-time, full-time) before the end of the school year, the duration and/or FTE of this temporary assignment will be amended. The successful applicant must accept the reduced work week (amended to a part-time contract) but will have the option to remain in a temporary 1.0 FTE contract by working as a Priority TTOC on other days until June 27, 2025.    

Education & Experience

  • Major/minor in Mathematics
  • Experience teaching Mathematics at the Secondary level
  • Secondary teacher training with experience in Career Education 
  • Experience teaching Career Life Education 10 and Career Life Connections 12  
  • Teacher training at the level specified in the posting with major/minor in Kinesiology
  • Practicum work in Physical Health Education at the Secondary level
  • Experience teaching Physical Health Education at the Secondary level
  •  Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
