Intermediate Teacher

Pythagoras Academy is currently seeking an intermediate Teacher (Grade 4/5) starting January 9th, 2025. This position will end June 20th, 2025 as it is coverage for a teacher on personal leave.

Pythagoras Academy is an exceptional co-educational independent school for students Kindergarten to Grade 5. Contract: Full–Time

Start Date: January 9th, 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and create student learning that incorporate BC Curriculum’s objectives, including STEM and design thinking;
• Assess student learning using formative and summative methods, incorporating feedback, student reflection and formal reporting, to grow and develop skills;
• Be the touchstone for parents, students and teachers;
• Personalise learning opportunities for students;
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the development of integrated lessons and units;
• Understand the principles of Attachment Theory and how they relate to teaching;
• Maintain appropriate standards of behaviour, mutual respect, and safety within the classroom;
• Incorporate appropriate technology use;
• Develop a positive, safe culture through actions and words;
• Integrate social responsibility and kindness into daily teaching and routines;
• Be available to students and families outside of class time.

Position and Qualifications

• Possess or be in application of a valid BC Teaching Certificate

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in education; 

• Models a strong work ethic as well as high standards of commitment;

• Fosters school mission, values and sense of community through student-centered decisions;

• Effectively communicates with staff, parents and students;

• Maintains professionalism through all school interactions and activities.

Compensation: Pythagoras Academy teaching salaries are 5% above Richmond School Board salaries.
