We are seeking an experienced elementary school educator to teach Humanities in the Middle School Program (Grade 6 and 7). You will be part of a collaborative teaching team supporting the positive growth and development of young girls in the Junior School. Teaching and learning is guided and enhanced by the principles of a student-centred, collaborative approach with an inquiry-based focus to deepen learning for young students.

Responsibilities:

• ●Create a classroom community rich in SEL for Grade 6 girls in a homeroom setting
• ●Plan the Grade 6 & 7 Humanities Curriculum (English Language Arts and Social Studies) in a team-based, collaborative approach
• ●Implement dynamic and interactive lessons
• ●Consider the diverse needs of students in your planning and teaching, offering a range of entry points and extensions to accommodate the needs of individual learners
• ●Utilize a variety of assessment techniques that allow for timely, transparent, and strength-based communication of learning
• ●Develop a student-centered, inquiry-based, positive and supportive culture for learning
• ●Integrate technology into teaching and learning in meaningful ways
• ●Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers and administration to support student learning and wellbeing
• ●Be an active and positive participant in school life including co-curricular activities
• ●Support the supervision of students during non-instructional time
• ●Participate in wider school wide events such as community time, student leadership opportunities and outdoor education experiences

Qualifications:

• ●B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification
• ●Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• ●Previous experience teaching in a middle school capacity an asset
• ●Understanding on how to support diverse learning styles at an elementary level
• ●Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
• ●Excellent written and oral communication skills
• ●Demonstrated ability to be innovative, flexible, highly organized with attention to detail
• ●Energy, commitment, and readiness to participate in the co-curricular program and the diverse lifeof the school community

Employment and Application Details:

Classes begin in September 2024 following teacher orientation in late August 2024.

Compensation: $63,033-$111,707 depending on experience and education level plus annual stipend of $ $8,554.
