Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic - Bus Driver within the Transportation Department. Assignment: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 7:30AM - 4:00PM, Onsite expected

Wage: $33.45 per hour with a competitive benefits and pension package. Effective July 1, 2023 wage will increase to $37.28 per hour .

Heavy Duty Mechanic – Bus Driver - Your Role

Under the direction of the Transportation Manager or Designate, you will assist with the repair and maintenance of School District vehicles and ancillary equipment and perform as bus driver when needed. Working with a team of Transportation professionals, you will apply your current and relevant skills, training, and experience in the areas of Mechanical trades, Commercial Vehicle Transportation and student transport.

Your Qualifications, Education and Experience include:

  • High school graduation or the equivalent
  • Successful completion of the B.C. Apprenticeship Program and a valid B.C. Trade Certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Commercial Transport Mechanic
  • Minimum of one-year related experience at the journeyman level
  • Physical capability to perform the job duties
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Valid B.C. Class 2 Driver’s License with an Air Brake Endorsement
  • Valid WCB Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate
  • Current Commercial Vehicle Inspection Certificate with class/endorsements 12345 A
