Special Education Teacher - Secondary Alternate Teacher

POSITION: Secondary Alternate Teacher - temporary

INITIAL ASSIGNMENT: Secondary Alternate Teacher, Alternate Education. Interpersonal and Family Relations 11 taught daily as part of the alternate program. 4 blocks English, 1 block Career Life Education 10/Career Life Connections 12, 1 prep block.

FTE: 1.0

LOCATION: McNaughton Centre

EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing April 16, 2024 to June 30, 2024 or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent.

Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:

Training Specialization: Secondary Education with a major/minor in English

Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching English and Career Education at the secondary level and implementing adaptations through differentiated instruction.

A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.

Additional Qualifications:

• Two or more courses at the 300 or 400 level in English

The starting annual salary for this full-time temporary Secondary Alternate Teacher ranges from $59,394 to $106,217 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
