Manager, Early Childhood Educator

At St. Mary's, our passionate team is committed to providing quality early learning care in an environment that meets the standards of the BC Early Learning Framework and universal ECE practices. Our centre offers a year round daycare program for children 30 months and up, with the afterschool program catering to children 5 - 11 years old. With full access to the school facilities including two gymnasiums and three playgrounds, our programs are available to all in the community.

St. Mary's School care centre is currently seeking a Manager with ECE credentials to lead our dedicated staff in creating a welcoming, inclusive, creative and nurturing environment for our care programs. Under the direction of the St. Mary's School Principal, the Centre Manager is responsible for the overall day-to-day operation of the care centre and establishing the direction of the programs offered. The Manager must ensure the centre facilities and programs meet provincial licensing regulations at all times of operation.

Our successful candidate will:

  • Be a certified ECE in good standing.
  • Have 1 – 2 years Supervisory experience within a childcare centre.
  • Be familiar with all necessary government legislation and regulations.
  • Have a Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR.
  • Be FoodSafe Level 1 certified or willing to complete certification.
  • Prepare documents and requests made by the Principal.
  • Ensure appropriate scheduling of staff in all programs and care plans in place for children requiring extra support.
  • Ensure the collection of all fees due.
  • Keep accurate records of staff and child attendance as well as activities and supplies.
  • Provide supervision of staff in multiple programs and conduct staff evaluations.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Commitment to Catholic Education
  • Identification with Catholic life and participation in the community of a Catholic parish
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, modelling a professional attitude, appearance and behaviour
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students and families, colleagues and administration
  • Ability to create form letters, registration forms, advertising brochures, holiday schedules and notices, etc
  • Provide leadership to educators in all programs
  • Additional training and knowledge in areas of specialty childcare needs

  • Certificate of Catholic baptism, or RCIA Certificate.
  • Catholic marriage certificate, if applicable

As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to complete the Diocese Safe Environment training and submit the following:

  • Application for Criminal Record Check (Children and Vulnerable Adults)
  • Photocopy of Canadian Birth Certificate or Canadian Passport (documentation to indicate you are legally entitled to work in Canada)
  • Social Insurance Number
