The starting annual salary for this part-time School Teacher position ranges from $8,842.83 to $15,509.49, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

This class is composed of guitar students of various abilities, including several beginners. The teacher may employ a variety of strategies including both direct instruction and student-guided learning. There is opportunity to use various online teaching tools to supplement/enhance instruction.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Fine Art with Major/Minor in Music
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience guitar at the Secondary level
  • Secondary or middle teacher training with university level music training
  • Eligible for B.C. Certification
  • Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

  • Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives
  • Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students
  • Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
