Newbridge Academy is BC’s first bilingual Mandarin-English independent university preparatory school. This small K-7 school, located in South Surrey, has approximately 30 students with a full-time teaching faculty of 7 full time and 1 part time teacher. The Board has made a decision to become a K-12 school as enrolment increases. Class sizes range from 4 -12 students and sometimes grades are combined. The school opened 6 years ago and is growing every year. Applicants should have a BC teaching certificate or able to attain a BC Teaching certificate. The job description includes but is not limited to:
- Preparing courses for presentation to students according to the approved BC curriculum
- Teach students using a systematic plan of lessons, discussions, audio-visual presentations and field trips
- Lead students in activities to promote their physical, mental and social development and their school readiness
- Assign and correct homework
- Prepare, administer and correct tests
- Evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students, parents and school officials
- Identify children's individual learning needs
- Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
- Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
There is a possibility of a leave of absence and thus the position may be available in the near future. Salaries are based on a teaching degree and years of experience.
