We are looking for a Special Counsellor to join our team at the Sunshine Coast Alternative School. This 2 day, 14 hour/week assignment is available starting September 1, 2023.
The main duty of this position is to provide therapeutic counselling to students on a variety of topics, including abuse, suicide, drugs and alcohol use, and in crisis situations as they may arise. The successful applicant must be able to work in a school team as well as with outside agencies, have experience in dealing with intensive behaviour intervention, mental health support, and substance use support. For safety reasons, the successful applicant must have CPI training and if the certification is not current, they must attend the next CPI training course being held in the district.
SCAS provides learner-centered programs that assist children and youth to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to build a healthy community. They welcome individual differences within an atmosphere of mutual respect and co-operation in a number of self-contained programs located at different sites on the coast.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree and experience in Counselling Psychology
- Minimum 4 years' experience working with adolescents
