MERRITT CENTRAL ELEMENTARY & MERRITT SECONDARY SCHOOL
0.25 FTE Continuing part-time (Okanagan Language) nsyilxcen Language Instructor at Merritt Secondary, beginning September 1, 2023.
0.25 FTE Continuing part-time (Okanagan Language) nsyilxcen Language Instructor at Merritt Central Elementary, beginning September 1, 2023.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Be a fluent speaker of the nsyilxcen Language.
- Possess a First Nations Language teacher certificate for nsyilxcen Language or be eligible for this certificate.
- Have a good understanding of Syilx culture.
- Training and experience working with grade-level students.
- Experience with adapting materials, resources, assessments and learning outcomes for student needs.
- Valid BC Teaching certificate or eligible for Letter of Permission.
- Teaching category five or higher.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A commitment to supporting a variety of learning needs.
- Experience/training in supporting the social-emotional learning needs of students.
- Committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Committed to working as a member of a school team in support of students.
