Job Details


The position is four (4) hours per day, four (4) days per week, until June 26, 2025. You are not required to work on non-instructional days. Hours of work will be assigned by the District Vice Principal of Early Learning or designate.


Required Skills & Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 plus a current Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate or diploma, including a Community Care Facilities Branch BC license to practice from the BC government's ECE Registry ;
  • Valid Childsafe first aid certificate;
  • Two years of experience, obtained within the last three years, as an Early Childhood Educator within a licensed childcare setting (in addition to experience acquired in obtaining the ECE certificate);
  • Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework and the Indigenous Early Learning and Childcare Framework;
  • Experience creating, organizing, planning and implementing an early learning program;
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team with colleagues, parents and children; and
  • Ability to effectively plan and work independently and without direct supervision.


 

Applicants will be expected to:


  • Plan, coordinate and lead a quality licensed preschool program.
  • Maintain a learning environment that promotes the health, security, and well-being of children.
  • Establish positive working relationships with staff, community partners, families, and children.
  • Support budget preparation and purchase and maintenance of supplies and materials.
  • Attend school, district, community, regional and provincial meetings as requested.
  • Maintain daily, monthly and quarterly statistics for childcare reports including attendance, registration, and emergency cards.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information seen or heard.
  • Understand and act in accordance with relevant policies and procedures from the school, district, Ministry of Education, Child Care Licensing Regulation, and WorkSafeBC.
  • Complete ongoing professional development and maintain ECE Certificate to Practice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


 


This position requires a clear criminal record check and up to date immunizations as per the Childcare Licensing Regulation.


 


The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement presently in effect between the Board and CUPE Local 2098.
