Pacific Academy is inviting applications from qualified individuals for a temporary, full-time Outdoor Education Coordinator position in the Middle School. This position is to cover a maternity leave from September 2024 to June 2025.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates should:
- Possess an understanding of and commitment to Christian Education
- Actively and personally support a Pentecostal/Charismatic statement of faith
- Be fluent in oral and written English
- Hold suitable certifications related to outdoor education/recreation or be willing to complete coursework (Wilderness First Aid, Class 2 Bus license, towing)
- Be experienced in some or all of the following areas of instruction: canoeing (flat), hiking, cross country skiing, kayaking, climbing, snowshoeing, ropes course, backcountry travel
- Have a willingness to attend and guide all Summit trips, including day trips and multi day backpacking trips (3-4 times per year)
- Be able to collaborate with school wide staff and community organizations in providing experiential learning opportunities in the outdoors
- Have an understanding of risk mitigation and be willing to complete further training
- Support the development of the Outdoor Education program
- Value caring for natural surroundings and the greater ecological world, promoting advocacy and stewardship
