SUMMARY:
Reports to the Director of Instruction. Works directly under the supervision of the Professional Services Supervisor and the Print Services Technician and performs a variety of duties relating to the needs of both the Professional Services Department and the Print Shop. This position works Monday to Friday, from 8:30-4:00pm (7 hrs/day)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the organization of professional development sessions including after school in-service, pro-d days, and summer pro-d.
- Assists with arrangements for speakers, hosts, sites, facilities and services for all professional development sessions.
- Assists with writing, editing and proofreading newsletters, forms, promotional brochures and publications for pro-d sessions, including assisting with coordination of printing and distribution of materials.
- Assists in the evaluation of pro-d sessions.
- Assists in performing finishing work on completed printing projects including collating, coiling, binding, stapling, cutting, drilling, and folding.
- Assists with packaging and sending out completed orders.
- Assists with filing and maintaining records relating to completed printing work orders, including cost to school/department.
- Assists with stocking shelves with paper supplies.
- Acts as relief to the Print Services technician.
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in education, creative writing, marketing, communications or English, or an equivalent combination of training and experience with a background in Print and Marketing.
- One to two years related experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and use judgement in the application and modification of methods and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively using tact, discretion, and diplomacy in contacts of a difficult or specialized nature.
- Ability to work with interruptions and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable with basic IT setup and troubleshooting.
- Comfortable using social media for promotional purposes.
- Comfortable with basic website design.
- Advanced knowledge of the Adobe Suite, particularly InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro.
- Knowledge of how to use the above programs appropriately for website and print design.
- Knowledge of prepress routines and processes.
- Working knowledge of EFI Fiery Command Workstation, and experience with professional grade production printers.
- An understanding of common paper stocks, their best uses, and their limitations.
- Knowledge of common print finishing methods
(ie. cutting, binding, padding, lamination, etc).
- Physical ability to perform the required duties which include some heavy lifting (up to 75lb paper boxes) and ability to spend long hours on your feet.
- Able to process print jobs from start to finish.
- Comfortable running the print shop alone when the Print Services Tech. is away.
- Valid BC driver’s license and vehicle

The rate of pay is $29.13/hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
