Job Description and Requirements:
The awarded applicant will be experienced in teaching in a multi-aged setting, fluent in assessment strategies that support learning, universal design for learning, technology integration (including GAFE) and will strive to create an engaging, challenging, and supportive learning environment working with the Science and Career Education curricular expectations. The applicant will also have recent experience teaching in a middle and secondary school setting. Position Description:

Educational Qualifications:
A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch
Bachelor of Teacher Education with a background (major or minor) in Science
Recent successful experience teaching Science 10 and preferred , though not required , experience teaching Career Education 10
Experience with a variety of learning management systems
Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills
Required Competencies and Experience:
1. Demonstrated ability to design and deliver inclusive, culturally safe learning experiences that integrate antiracist and decolonizing practices, while fostering respectful classroom communities that honor diverse identities and perspectives—aligned with School District 8’s Equity and Inclusion Policy .
2 . Plan , using backward design and differentiation strategies, for curriculum that meets the needs, interests and abilities of a diverse range of learners.
3 . Create a mutually respectful classroom culture that ensures student involvement and engagement in the learning process and enables each student an opportunity to achieve learning outcomes through a variety of current instructional and self-regulation strategies.
4. Collaborate with colleagues and the School Based Team, including the Learning Support Teacher, Indigenous Education Teacher, Education Assistants, and Counsellor to ensure that students with learning and behavioral challenges are supported through adaptations, modifications, and differentiation as required in their IEPs
5 . Establish clear learning outcomes or key questions related to big ideas in the new curriculum for units and projects and clearly communicate these outcomes to students and parents.
6 . Develop assessment and evaluation strategies that align with the changed emphases in curriculum.
7 . Be conversant and have experience with current educational technologies and demonstrate a growth mindset for learning new tools and applications.
9 . Fluency with the redesigned Science and Math curriculum including a readiness to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences .
