Surrey Schools is seeking to fill vacancies on our Facilities Maintenance team!

Reporting to the Manager of Structural/Plumbing Maintenance, this position will be responsible for providing technical and building information support to ensure maintenance program and projects adhere to applicable codes, by-laws & regulations. This position develops, plans, organizes, and schedules maintenance and other renovation projects. This position communicates between internal and external consultants/contractors/suppliers to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects and as such the ideal candidates must have exceptional communication skills both written and verbal. Success in this position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet multiple deadlines as well as respond to time-oriented emergencies. The Technologist role requires thorough knowledge of computer applications and software applications related to the role.

The Surrey School District prides itself on providing our facilities staff with excellent work-life balance. These Technologist Positions work 37.5 hours per week on typical day shift of 7am-3pm, Monday to Friday.

Applicants must have:

  • Possession of an accredited degree, diploma, or certificate of technology from a recognized technical institute or university.
  • The candidate must be eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) or Architectural Technologist (AT-BC) in British Columbia.
  • Minimum three years related work experience in construction, maintenance field including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of BC Building Code and other applicable entities.
  • Sound knowledge of construction assemblies, processes, and techniques.
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD. Revit an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license.
  • Previous Project Management experience an asset.

These are unionized positions that offer an hourly wage rate of $38.53 per hour plus benefits package: municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits. Expected additional increase to hourly rate in July 2024, as per new collective bargaining agreement.
