A continuing, full-time position exists for an Itinerant Speech Language Pathologist based in Terrace. This position provides services to all students in the Coast Mountain School District (Terrace, Kitimat and Hazelton). This position is to start as soon as possible.

The speech-language pathologist provides a range of services designed to support students whose education is adversely affected by oral communication difficulties. This focus on bridging access to curriculum and learning is achieved primarily through emphases on assessment, consultation and direct instruction. This work may also take on a capacity building focus via resource development and in-service for teachers and support staff. Work with students may take place individually, in small groups or in classroom settings as appropriate. The successful applicant must have a valid BC driver’s license and will be required to travel.

The successful applicant must be able to:

  • Communicate and work collaboratively with other professionals including school based teams and Student Services staff;
  • Assess speech and language abilities of school age children;
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy;
  • Provide in-service and awareness training for classroom teachers and support staff;
  • The successful applicant must have a valid BC driver’s license and will be required to travel within the Coast Mountain School District area.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, or working towards completion, and be certified with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC (CSHHPBC).
