SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

The Richmond School District is looking to build its School Psychologists team. We currently have continuing and temporary contract positions available.

Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education, and several additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.

Job Description

All positions within Learning Services engage in supporting the District’s Strategic Plan, specifically, Strategic Priority 1: Inspired Learners and Strategic Priority 2: Equity and Inclusion. The School Psychologist position includes opportunities to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment in the context of the Learning Services Department and with school personnel. This position also involves professional consultation and supporting educational changes in a variety of contexts. The successful candidate will also:

  • Provide collaborative consultation with teachers, parents, and community agencies, and at school-based team meetings.
  • Provide ongoing collaborative planning for students and classrooms and assist with pre-referral interventions.
  • Provide individualized psycho-educational assessments (based on student need) for students referred through the school-based team process.
  • Contribute to the development and progress monitoring of the IEP or Student Learning Plan
  • Provide in-service training around interventions, progress monitoring, data collection and/or assessment.
  • Assist with the Ministry of Education processes for designation and adjudication.
  • Assist school and district staff in providing additional professional development support for educators and support staff.

Qualifications

  • a Master’s degree in school/educational psychology (or related field)
  • Certified/eligible for certification with the British Columbia Association of School Psychologists and/or Registration with the College of Psychologists, with special training and supervision in school psychology
  • Teaching certification with BC Teacher Regulation Branch an asset
