24-023 A temporary .5 FTE Occupational Therapist position is available with Inclusive Education, effective September 03, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Applicants must have training and experience as a physical therapist.

School District 72 (Campbell River) is located on the east coast of central Vancouver Island, extending north to Sayward and south to Oyster River. The District also includes the outer islands of Read, Cortes, and Quadra. The District serves over 5,500 students in 18 schools.

Campbell River is a scenic, oceanfront community framed by extensive waterfront, west coast forests and snow-capped mountains. The area is renowned for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities such as skiing, kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, golf, and endless opportunities to experience nature.

School District 72 operates throughout a large geographic area. Campbell River and Quadra Island schools and our school board office are located on the traditional territory of the Liǧʷiɫdax̌ʷ people. School District 72 also encompasses the traditional territory of the Klahoose (Cortes), K’ómoks (Sayward), and Xwe’malhkwu (Bute Inlet) First Nations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy;
  • Eligible for membership in C.A.O.T.;
  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapy in BC;
  • Previous pediatric experience; and,
  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, multiple disabilities, and feeding concerns.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • A philosophy that supports integration and inclusion for students with special needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team approach to meeting the needs of students.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, students and parents and be able to take a leadership role in the training of staff involved in the student’s program.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload.
  • A good understanding and familiarity with computer technology.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology is an asset.
  • Valid B.C. driver’s license and appropriate means of transportation

The starting full time salary for this teaching position ranges from $58,267 and $106,217. Placement on salary scale is subject to verification of experience and certification and will be done in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
