CHILD & YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN 2023-2026
This is a .50 FTE Continuing 3- Year position effective September 1, 2023 to June 30, 2026. The Ministry of Children and Families, Child and Youth Mental Health, and School District No. 73 jointly fund this position. As a member of the District Inclusive Education Services team, the Child & Youth Mental Health Clinician will provide a wide range of services in support of mental disorders in children and youth, with a particular focus on the provision of clinical services as well as educational services.
This is an itinerant district position. Direct service to students and consultative service to staff, parents and administrators is provided in different schools and across a variety of settings. Effective liaison with parents, teachers, administrators, health care professionals and outside agencies is a critical aspect of this position.
Travel to outlying communities may be required.
This is a position of Special Responsibility and will be filled by competition.
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Counselling, Social Services or other human service field
Recent related experience of at least two years working in a mental health and/or school setting
Specific experience working with children/youth where the children/youth are exhibiting early signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger, loss, or other emotional or behavioral challenges
Experience with best practice/evidenced-based therapies; and prevention/early intervention activities
Working knowledge of DSM V; mental health assessments, treatment planning, school policies and procedures
Ability to provide ongoing psycho education in workshop and group settings
BC Drivers License
