Position Summary
York House School is inviting applications from compassionate, innovative and qualified Resource Education Assistants committed to providing an exceptional 21st-century learning environment for our girls. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in instructional and assessment practices, a passion for teaching, and a strong understanding of how girls learn. Learning Strategies Teacher Assistants play a key role for our students with special needs, performing functions, which range from personal care to assisting the teacher with instructional programs. With guidance from the Coordinator of Learning Strategies, they play a key role in implementing programs. The Learning Strategies teacher assistant will spend time in classrooms observing, modeling, co-teaching, and completing classroom work with students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Educational Assistant with Special Education training
- Two years working in Special Education preferred
- Experience working with children who have diverse physical needs is an asset
- Bachelor of Education, with senior school qualifications is an asset
- British Columbia Teachers certification or equivalent is an asset
- Independent School experience is an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of British Columbia Curriculum and pedagogy
- Knowledge of the current research on girls and learning, developing critical 21st-century global capacities
- Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic and caring educator. A commitment to diversity and inclusion in all its many dimensions
- Collaborative and flexible, supportive, and effective team-player
- Ability to develop strong professional relationships with all stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
