Summary
Godson Elementary has a population of approximately 350 students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. We are located in the core of the city of Abbotsford, walking distance to Abbotsford Middle and Abbotsford Senior Secondary schools. The mission of Godson Elementary is to inspire our students to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for participation in a changing society by creating a safe and challenging learning environment. A Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus and experience with PBIS (positive behaviour support), Zones of Regulation, Mind Up, SEL Kernels to support success.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with two other LSS teachers, classroom teacher and support staff to support student learning. They should have a breadth of knowledge and experience in the areas of social emotional learning, trauma informed practice, differentiated instruction, and familiar with technology used to support students.
**The successful applicant will be temporarily assigned to Godson Elementary for the remainder of the 2022/2023 school year and start at either Dormick Park Elementary or John Maclure Elementary in September. Learn more about these schools online at https://www.abbyschools.ca/schools.
Education & Experience
• Major/minor or diploma in Special Education
• Practicum and/or work experience in Special Education at the elementary level
• Case management experience required
• Training and experience with Level B Assessments (ie. KBIT2/KTEA III)
• Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification
• Eligible for B.C. Certification
• Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports
